Looking Back on 2024: Milestones and Memories
This year was incredibly productive and inspiring, filled with new exhibitions, projects and publications.
I participated in 13 group exhibitions across the USA, Europe, and Asia, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Texas and other cities in California, as well as Athens and Astana.

My work was featured in 2 international interviews, including artMUSE Magazine (cover and interview) and Visual Art Journal,  futhermore number of my works was included in various exhibits and publications (AP News, European Business Magazine and others).

Special highlights include the launch of the “GROWTH” Bio-Art Project in Miami and the virtual exhibition “Unlocked Identities” on Times Square, New York.

As the editor of ArtSreda (play of words meaning Art Environment digest issuing on Wednesdays), an arts-focused digital publication, I oversaw 52 weekly issues filled with news, events, and insights for the art community.

In education, I dedicated 40 hours to hosting sessions as a curator for 4 seasons at the Art Communication School by Julia Sysalova, supporting artists in their creative development.
2024 was a year of discoveries, growth, and opportunities to share my art. I look forward to creating even more in the years to come!

The Official Opening of “The Growth” Project Was a Success
The official opening of “The Growth” project was a great success. Created in collaboration with Miami-based artist Victor Tur and curated by art critic Julia Sysalova, the project was presented as part of a group exhibition at the Liora Redman Gallery during Downtown Miami Art Week. The project ran from November 15 to December 11, offering visitors a chance to explore its thought-provoking themes.

“The Growth” explores the connection between nature and human-made systems, addressing themes of value, fragility, and wealth. As curator Julia Sysalova emphasized: “True wealth lies in air, water, and land—the essential resources that sustain life.”
Thank you to everyone who supported and attended this remarkable project!

The Platforms Project 2024: “What About Eve?”
The Platforms Project 2024: “What About Eve?” exhibition, where women talk about women, took place in Athens, Greece, from October 10 to October 13, 2024, curated by Eva Maragaki and Julia Sysalova.
At the heart of the project “What About Eve?” is a group of women artists from Greece, Germany, Finland, USA, Armenia, Slovakia, Italy, United Kingdom, Austria, Cyprus, and Latvia. They explore womanhood and its multiple roles and symbolisms, opening new ways to understand the main female archetype in a metamodern world with ancient origins.

Women from different countries and cultures delve into contradictory and challenging ideas, including free will, empathy, disempowerment, and connection to today’s rapidly changing social scene.
Oxana presented her work “Taboo”, which is about the silence and invisible wounds that women carry inside as they face societal pressure and life situations. It symbolizes those experiences and emotions that often remain hidden from the outside world. She feels honored to be part of this incredible journey, raising important questions about women in today’s world.

The remarkable Art Is Hope Exhibition Gala and Fundraiser took place Nov 2, 2024, uniting art and purpose to support the Salvation Army Santa Monica. Together, this incredible initiative raised more than $20,000 to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
I am deeply honored to have participated in this meaningful event, which brought together talented artists, local leaders, and dedicated individuals to inspire hope and bring light to our community.
Special thanks to the event’s wonderful organizers, Susan Spector and Rhonda Burton, and to Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock, for their dedication and commitment to this cause.
Together, our efforts and contributions are creating a positive impact and providing hope to those who need it most.

International Art Exhibition. New York
Oxana Akopov takes a part in current art exhibition at Perseus Gallery.
Titled “Unlocked Identities”, the project is a sum of personal, social, and historical experiences being explored and reflected through art on a global scale.

Curated by Julia Sysalova, an art curator from Athens, Greece, the exhibition concerns the ways that identities change when influenced by cultural, scientific, and social settings.
Through the complex labyrinths of their (sub)consciousness, 21 emerging immigrant artists from the former USSR, living in different countries (USA, Spain, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Greece, Italy, Finland, Austria, Armenia, Great Britain, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore), explore the surrounding reality, revisiting how new cultural and social codes influence their realities and artistic practice.

In search of a complex balance between internal and external contradictions, the artists talk about the ones they know best - themselves - creating a dialogue with each other and with the public through painting, art photography, sculpture, and installations.

The group’s ambition is to present a broad perspective on identity without imposing what is right or wrong. The exhibition invites us to consider and reflect, to participate and respond.
